What is the internet?

What is the internet?
The internet is a network that allows electronic devices such as computers, phones, games, tablets and other devices communicate with each other. When the devices began communicating with each other that means that the devices are online, and transmitting messages through something called a protocol. Every device that connects to the internet uses the “Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” Which is provided by major telecommunications companies such as AT&T, Verizon and etc. These companies also have different types of connections to the internet such as dial -up (high speed), ASDL, Cable, Satellite, Wi-Fi and Mobile wireless.

The internet is used by all sorts of people that are in all different age ranges, that are in different occupations and they have different types of interest in things. People use the internet to communicate to each other like I mentioned before. They also can use the internet to do research for school, work and personal related issues. The internet can also be used for shopping for varies of items.

For Example Business companies uses the internet for business to consumer reasons (which is helping the customer online), or business to business to business (when the company is buying supplies from another company)

*Quick Facts* the internet used to be called ARPANET which began at the end of the 1970’s and rapidly grew over the years.

Overall in my opinion the growth of the internet has changed and grew rapidly over the years. Technology had enhanced so much since the early 1980’s until now. There is so much you can learn from typing in a search engine or even simply typing in numerous world wide websites. I feel this is only the beginning there will be a lot more changes to come as we get older.
